about

I have been going through some old tracks. Tracks made during a period I had no desire to be a 'solo artist' but to be an artist working in collaboration with others mainly in the fields theatre & dance. I did have a solo project many years before & found that the music I made was met with confusion. So I didn't push it. However I did find within the realms of collaborative art when combined with other media my sound & approach was understood in this context. So I went with that flow.

Originally created for an adaption of Stanisław Lem's Solaris directed by my friend Janwillem Van Den Bosch for the Štátne Divadlo Košice in Slovakia. Most people are familiar with the either Tarkovsky's or Soderbergh's films which both focus on the psychological/horror sci fi side of the book. What they both miss is that it is also a book about books. There is a lot of words about the history of the science of the study of the planet Solaris. A ruse if you like to question how we disseminate knowledge and how this changes over time reflecting the nature of the culture disseminating the knowledge more than the object of study itself.

In this adaption we brought this aspect more centre stage. One passage, which potentially could have been very dry, there were three as if holographic images of scientist/historians giving a history of the history of the study of Solaris. We chose to make it humorous. So hence the quirky underscore

Enjoy
