Stars In The Firmament (Live)

about

Weaving together a set for handful of gigs happening over the next couple of months. Rediscovering and reworking old tracks, finding new meanings and new spaces inside of the notes. 'Stars of the Firmament' came out on 'Song Lines' released on Naviar Records in 2018. Letting myself take time over building up the layers and textures of the drone. Enjoying each sound added for its own sake and not rushing into the main body of the solo melody. Also finding more spacde and sense to the phrases. In some sense this music is culturally ambiguous, the underlying drone probably owes most to the sounds of household appliances, engines and generators. The more than human world (including the things we manufacture) sings in its own voices. I remember a scene in Il Postino where he records the sounds of the stars at nigh from a beach. I remember looking up at a night sky on the bank of some river in La Gran Sabana near Roraima that was so intense I could hear it.
