These tracks were created over a span of time that took in a period of depression, a surreal nightmarish hospital stay over Christmas & a subsequent diagnosis of epilepsy. With the music I’ve tried to go into this experience meeting it creatively to try and transform something in myself. Structurally it’s some of my most succinct work, honing some ideas of structure & harmony. It’s also created from improvisation. The structures are planned out before hand and explored in many ways. Improvised because the further I travel along the path of music the imperfections almost become the thing. The cracked notes, the unsure beginnings of a bow stroke, the uncertainty of intonation. It’s like this is where the soul lies and with our modern recording techniques & striving for ‘perfection’ we miss something.
